Traveling With Family? Finding Great Places to Stay

Traveling with my kids, parents and spouse is my favorite thing to do. But when it comes to finding lodging once we arrive to our destination, I quickly regret not making better traveling plans ahead of time. It's not fun driving around a new town, city or state looking for a hotel or bed and breakfast when we should be enjoying ourselves instead. After going through this for the last four years, I decided to plan ahead and obtain accommodations early. I have a large family so finding accommodations that fit everyone comfortably is essential. I found a great site online that offers information on almost destination in the United States. That makes it easier to locate hotels in the cities my family visits the most. Tips On Getting The Best Hotel Room

Blog

When you reserve a hotel room, you hope to get the best accommodations for your needs. Sometimes, getting the best room for the best rates is a little tricky. Hotel employees know which rooms are better than others and have the final say in where you stay. Often, they save these rooms for loyal customers. However, that doesn't mean you can't get a great room even when you've never stayed there before. Here are some ways to ensure you get the best room.

Do Your Research

The first step in getting a good hotel room is to do your research. Try to find out as much as possible about the hotel. Check reviews and get an idea of which room locations might fit your needs. Research can also give you a heads-up on any potential problems or hidden amenities.

Know What You Want

Figure out what you want during your stay. If you are noise sensitive, you may want a room in a quiet corner or on a high floor. Decide whether a certain view or a bigger space is more important. If easy entering and exiting is important, then a low floor may be more to your liking.

Contact the Hotel

A few days before you check in, call the hotel and let them know of any special needs. You can also ask them about anything happening at the hotel at that time, like a convention. Other things to ask them are if the pool, gym, or restaurant are open and available during your stay.

Ask For Changes

If you get to your room and you find it unacceptable, let the staff know right away. Don't unpack or use any of the facilities in that room. Also, don't be shy about asking about upgrades or hidden amenities or services. The worst they could say is no.

Be Nice

Being nice to the staff can go a long way, even if things aren't going your way. If they make you wait for your room or seem a little rude, try to remain calm and pleasant. They not only hold the key to you getting a great room but also to fulfilling your special requests.

If you are proactive and prepared when you book a hotel room, you will get the best out of your stay. Most hotels are reasonable about making special accommodations when possible. However, they are more likely to give preference to people who follow some of the steps listed above. If you need to book a hotel room, contact the hotel or an agent for help.
